As part of our whole school Word Aware approach to create a language-enriched environment that promotes vocabulary development in our learners, the boys and girls of primary 1 explored the word ‘tumbling’ encountered in the story of the Stickman.
The children learned the meaning of the word through a multi-sensory approach, then activated this in their play-based learning sessions. This included playing a ‘tumbling’ dice addition game, building a ‘tumbling’ tower, acting out a ‘tumbling’ role play scenario and drawing a picture of something ‘tumbling’.
The children are already excited to select their new word of the week next week!
