Magic Maths Assembly

The boys and girls of primary 1 worked hard this week to prepare a fun-filed assembly for their friends and family to share their journey of learning number in their first year of primary school.

Their performance included songs, rhymes, exercises and even a rap! It was lovely to see the older boys and girls in the school getting involved too.  Our primary 1's did a super of job of demonstrating that learning Maths is fun!

Our very own Miss McKelvie and Mrs Sweeney :-)
5 Speckled Frogs!
We began P1 by learning to sequence numbers to 5 using the '5 Speckled Frogs' song
We can now count to 100...while exercising at the same time!
We learned how to form our numbers correctly using number rhymes to help us
We learned to form our numbers using a range of media including play-doh, chalk, pipe cleaners and paint

Mrs Sweeney is very impressed with the P1's number skills!
We use songs to learn to skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s and practise these daily
We can identify the symbol for adding and can use this in a number sentence
We learned different strategies for adding numbers
We can identify the symbol for subtraction and can use this in a number sentence
Doubles are no trouble for us!
Frogs that rap!
Even Miss McKelvie and Mrs Sweeney can recite their doubles to a rap!
