Primary 1's first look at cross curricular learning - The people who help us
Primary 1 are learning all about the people who help us. They are exploring this across the curriculum.
We started by looking at who looks after us in the house and talking about what they do to look after us. We then moved on to the adults who look after us in school. Together we made a beautiful wall display of the adults in school and what they do to help us. This included the children's drawings of:
The management team
Teachers
Learning assistants
Cleaners
Office ladies
The janitor
Kitchen staff
This display can be seen in the bottom corridor of the school. This display certainly made a few people laugh.
We then moved on to looking at people in the community who help us. We started by exploring the Police and their role in the community. We learned all about how and when to contact the police and the different jobs they do. We explored this using our literacy skills, creative skills and used role play to further develop our understanding of emergency situations.
We even had a visit from PC Lauren!
